Silver is a metallic chemical element with the chemical symbol Ag (Latin: argentum). The chemical symbol Ag is from the Latin for "silver", argentum, from the Indo-European root *arg- meaning "white" or "shining". A soft, white, lustrous transition metal, it has the highest electrical conductivity of any element and the highest thermal conductivity of any metal.

Silver has been used for thousands of years for ornaments and utensils, for trade, and as the basis for many monetary systems. Jewellery are traditionally made from sterling silver (standard silver), an alloy of 92.5% silver with 7.5% copper.

Silver has been known as the moon metal and is a stabilizer and securer of the action of the gemstones energy, it does not expand the energy of the stone, but rather acts as an existing support to the stones properties. Silver will reflect an individual's self-esteem and therefore can encourage the personality of the gemstone itself. It balances the central nerve network and promotes self-improvement.
